Beach Events
Several of the participants in the first-ever Wreck Beach Bare Buns Fun Run/Walk held June 22, 1997, are shown "in full flight".
Whether you choose to walk or run, we have trophies, ribbons, and prizes for winners each person who participates will also receive a certificate of participation.
The exact course along the beach depends on wind and tides for that day.
It might not be the best idea to don a pair of $500 running shoes as you may well have to run through a bit of muck and sometimes, tidal pools.
A limited number of on-site registrations will be allowed the day of the run, and those participants may have to wait for their shirts to be mailed.
We have numerous categories for runners and walkers between the ages of 1 to 100! These categories include oldest and youngest, best-decorated "buns," and wackiest hats. Trophies will go to first-across the finish line men, women and children. Ribbons and numerous other prizes will be awarded! If you are too shy to completely bare your buns, get a friend or one of our beach artists to camouflage paint them for you! The event is a blast and the only requirement for you to have fun with us is to show up! Run dates are selected for low tide that day. For this year's run, visit the registration page.

While every day is a celebration of Wreck Beach and the spirit of freedom the beach brings to us, we set aside one day a year to mark not only International Nude Weekend, but also to pay homage to the beach which we love so much. The battle to keep the beach natural and free has been a long one and catapulted into high gear on January 25, 1977, but that's another story.
Because we don't want the huge rowdy crowds who forced the end of the White Rock sandcastle competitions, we've stipulated that sandcastle team captains must be in the nude! In addition to the sandcastle event, other events include a nude art show, kite-flying, bocci ball, sand croquet, and others. Ribbons are awarded by a team of volunteer judges who have included in the past, artist Raymond Chow, and MP Svend Robinson who even brought visiting relatives from Denmark along! Vendors stock up on their wares for this day of celebration. Age categories run from 1 to 100! Registration is free at the foot of Trail 6.
Through out the year there are many other events in support of protecting Wreck Beach! Beach people and local merchants band together to include marvelous prizes in support of the beach. For the past two years, TNS nudist resort, and posh Desert Shadows Inn, have offered a free weekend for two as grand prizes. Annual events include the Halloween Party and Christmas Party. Visit our calender page to find out when events are.
