Big changes are coming for our park! There are plans in the works to eventually replace the Park Centre offices on 16th avenue with a new modern updated park centre office, at the same site in the park. An important step towards the new park centre occurred on Monday, August 17th, when Metro Parks, West Area office was moved from its site in Pacific Spirit Regional Park to a temporary new office in Airport Square (Marpole), South Vancouver. The address of the new office of the Park Centre is - #130 - 1200 W 73rd Avenue (just off SW Marine Dr. near Oak Street Bridge). There is free street parking and paid visitor parking available. While this location is only temporary, it will remain in the Airport Square location while the planning and the building of a new facility takes place. During the next several weeks the old West Area office will be decommissioned and the trailers will be moved. The public washrooms, Catching The Spirit trailer and BC Mobility Society (BCMOS) and a small Metro Vancouver Patrol Outpost for Park Patrollers will remain at the old 16th Ave. site, so there will be no loss of park staff responsiveness to park users’ needs. At this time, it is uncertain how long the West Area Office will remain in its new location, but as plans for the new park centre proceed we will certainly keep you informed.
