To Whom It May Concern Re-Phase II Marine Residence Towers:
I join my voice to hundreds and thousands of others protesting against the arrogance and insensitivity of The University of British Columbia present administration for pursuing their ill-advised plan, Phase II Marine Residence Towers. Like many others I condemn this plan because it is built in a sensitive area which may give rise to problems at a later date, but more importantly because it destroys a wonderful forest land view of the western extreme of the city, and intrudes on Wreck Beach .
Let me say I am a graduate with two degrees from UBC. I have also raised some $2000 in gifts through a memorial bench there. However, I will donate nothing in future should this project go through. Finally, I am a broadcaster on community radio, producing Wake Up With Co-Op! at 102.7 FM. We have carried several interviews on this subject, and we have received many calls indicating listener opposition to Project II.
Please take all this ground swell of popular resistance to this project in mind when making your final decision. The University has ample opportunity to build low-rise housing in this area.
Yours truly,
Charles Boylan, BA, MA (UBC)
